For Valentine’s Day: Reclaiming the Feminine and Chocolate

Close your eyes. Take a deep… full breath. And another. And another. Feel, in this moment, the space around and beneath you. Now bring your awareness to the place midway between your chest and navel…to your solar plexus. Go deep…down into the core of your being…to the center of your body and Self. Breathe. In…and out…deep…and slow.

In your mind’s eye imagine in this space a ball of yellow light…powerful and pure. With every breath feel the yellow light filling you, reaching downward…through your abdomen, groin and legs, and out the bottom of your feet, into the ground, growing roots deep into the earth.

Now let it rise upward, through your heart, arms, hands, throat and face…finally moving outward through the crown of your head, rising to meet the light of the Heavens.

Light continues to flow…upward and downward, through every cell in your system, dancing and spinning…powerful and free.

Now bring  your attention back to your core, to the light’s origin. Feel it begin to calm, to pulsate in rhythm with your breath. Look deeper within it…allow an image to emerge…the image of a woman – as powerful, pure, calm and beautiful as the light. A woman who dances in rhythm with the earth and the Heavens…who lives in the center where the wisdom of both meet.

Within every woman lives the memory of a Goddess, who, wild and free makes her home in the rich and fertile forest of a Woman’s true essence. Though often hidden and even forgotten, Her voice echoes through the dark places, her touch felt as an ancient yearning…for connection to inner wisdom…for a Self that awaits re-membrance and release…for Womanhood invoked.

Deep. Rich. Sensual. Fluid. Mysterious. Powerful. Healing. The embodiment of Love. Honored by ancient wisdom. Sought for comfort. Pregnant with Life.

Words that evoke an image of the feminine as discovered in the secret room of a woman’s heart and soul, from where the sacred river of life flows. When a woman opens the door and crosses the threshold to this room, her bare feet meet fertile ground. She is returned to her body, the vessel of her sensuality…she re-members her Divinity, the source of her wisdom. She moves fluidly, reconnected to her essence. Here in the Garden of the Goddess she is full, overflowing…ripe with the passion of Life.

Come to stand, with your feet planted firmly on the ground, your back straight but relaxed, your chin tucked in so your neck is in alignment with your spine, your shoulders rolled back and down…palms open and turned frontward. Close your eyes and again bring your focus to your breath. Feel the Woman in the Center, alive within you. Breathe her into Being. And then, when you sense her presence…begin to move. From your core…letting your body follow her lead.

Head…shoulders…arms…hands. Breathe and move, light and free.

Chest and upper spine…heart opening, expanding, embracing.

Hips…legs…feet. Grounded and strong.

The Goddess dances…awakened. Remembered.

There is a deep sweetness that Woman, in Her highest expression, knows and gives birth to. A sweetness conceived by the Divine, born through the fusion of Earth and Heaven. A sweetness that is both powerful in its embrace and gentle in its force.

A sweet succulence that delights in life and all of its passions. But that fears not the labor pains of evolution.

The Goddess remembers the Wisdom of the ages and of eternity. She awaits the emergence of tomorrow…where history’s ancient knowing and today’s conscious intelligence blend into One. She yearns to dance once more…through Woman unleashed anew, Woman re-membered. Woman Proclaimed.

As your dance slows, let yourself move into the posture of your own inner Goddess. Breathe into her limbs and into her heart. And feel her become alive within your own limbs and heart. Breathe deeply and take a single step…walking into the present, toward the horizon of a bright, powerful and peace-filled future… Goddess embodied.

Reclaiming the Sweetness

I have been on my own Goddess quest for years and have found her in many places…in dance, poetry, yoga, Love, mothering. I must say I never expected to discover Her in chocolate.

Recently I began a new division of Full Dimensional Living, one focused on physical and emotional wellness, in the form of a very special type of Healthy Chocolate. It seems an oxymoron, but as my left brain sought out understanding and did the research, I became amazed by the scientific and testimonial evidence backing the product. But somewhere along the way, my right brain also began to dance with joy. Because what I was, and continue to be brought back to again and again is the fusion of ancient wisdom with modern progress. Cocoa was used by the Aztecs and Mayans for its medicinal qualities and revered by them to such an extent that it was used as currency. Not until the Industrial Revolution did cocoa become candy, stripped of its natural essence – its value and potency. And as I learn all of this something inside me begins to buzz with recognition. Woman and Chocolate. Both long ago revered for their natural essence and healing qualities. Both stripped of their power and potency in the midst of time’s conquering.

Today, we seek again the force of the feminine, reawakening Her from Her long slumber, infusing Her with the evolution of the ages. As she emerges, the words resonate: She is…Deep. Rich. Sensual. Fluid. Mysterious. Powerful. Healing. The embodiment of Love. Honored by ancient wisdom. Sought for comfort. Pregnant with Life.

Today, science rediscovers the power of ancient Cocoa and mixes it with the intelligence of today’s technology, bringing out an innate potency that was given as a gift of the earth and enhancing it with that which has made it the modern symbol of love, and of life’s sweetness. Once more, the words resonate: Chocolate is… Deep. Rich. Sensual. Fluid. Mysterious. Powerful. Healing. The symbol of Love. Honored by ancient wisdom. Sought for comfort. Full with Life.

Woman and chocolate. For years the match has been made almost in jest. But I am opening to a deeper connection. To the calling for reclamation and evolution of life’s sweetness…to the innate healing power of the Earth and Heaven. To the fluid, sensual dance of Love as it travels through the veins of the Divine, through the roots of the Earth, seeking and finding its Home in the heart of all that is.

Return to the posture of your inner Goddess. Hold in your hand the sweetness of life as found in chocolate. Imagine your feet grounded upon ancient earth as you slowly, with mindfulness, place the chocolate on your tongue. Let the cocoa melt there…again slowly, its sweetness merging with yours, healing, transforming, awakening. Evolving…roots fed by the wisdom of the past and arms open to embrace the intelligence of the present. Moving, dancing… into the infinite possibilities that  await.

The First Gateway to Transformation and Healing: Breathing, Meditation and Other Personal Practices

As I said in the previous post, true transformation is a mystical process, the directions of which are coded into our cells. We don’t control it. It is sourced from and is a very force of Divine Evolution. But we can help catalyze it through rituals of well-being…practices such as meditation, prayer, dancing, drawing and journaling that help us let go of everyday stress, become more alert and relaxed and ultimately connect us to the pathway of psychological and emotional healing, Self-emergence and transformation. Many programs will tell you that there is only one true path to well-being, transformation or enlightenment. I don’t subscribe to that. Our journeys are connected but they are also unique unto us and so it is that our relationship with the Divine, with the force of transformation, is to be danced in our own special way.

But I do also believe that a good personal practice is one that will take you through the 3 Gateways of Transformation: Presence, Awareness and Bearing Witness. Today, let’s look at Gateway 1 – Presence.

Personal growth and transformation requires above all else the creation of relationship – deep relationship with the Self. Just like with any relationship we must first show up. We have to shine the light of our attention upon our relationship with our Self in order for it to grow. We must build comfort being alone in order to truly come to trust and love ourselves, so that we may see clearly and compassionately the totality of who we are. Then, the door to even deeper relationship will open, guiding us into communion with that which sources, animates and transforms all.

So, Gateway 1 – Presence, is that art of showing up and building relationship. When we practice Presence we create a sacred time and place of being with our Self, time devoted to calling Home our body, mind, heart and Spirit. Throughout our day – and our life – we get fragmented, our body is in one place while our mind and heart wander in all different directions. When we become present we call all back into one place and time, back to the place of Spirit.

Activities for Presence:

1. Breathing. Sit in stillness. Let your shoulders relax and your tongue move from the roof of your mouth. Bring your attention to your breath. Inhale for four counts. Hold for four count. Exhale for four counts. Continue for a few minutes. It’s that simple. Just focus your mind on your breath. If thoughts or emotions arise, it’s okay. Acknowledge them and then return to your breath. Over and over. That’s the heart of meditation. There is no stopping the Monkey Mind…there is only growing in the skill of taming it. First, you must even awaken to it. Just be present with what it. It’s all okay. For more guided meditations you can see the Store page and take a look at A Moment’s Peace.

2. Ground Writing. Get a journal and a pen (not a pencil). Put pen to paper and write without stopping to think, reflect, feel or daydream. Just write. If you don’t know what to say – write that  – “I don’t know what to say,” until you do. Again, it’s okay. No censuring, no correcting. Just write. This type of writing is meant to allow fist thougths to be heard. We spend a lot of time thinking about what’s okay and not okay to say…this is time to just be present to what is within you, feeling safe expressing it. Continue to write for either 5 minutes or 3 pages, or whatever numbers you pre-select. This is a really powerful exercise if done regularly. In time you write through the skin to the very core.

3. Dancing. Turn on music and move. I suggest music with a deep rhythm and no words. The key, though is as you move really feel your body as it connects to the music. Feel each movement from start to finish. Allow different parts of your body to lead – your head, hands, knees, elbows, feet, spine…Try not to let your mind take over and judge your dance. Allow for your own natural rhythm to come forward. Enjoy!

Practice for a while just being Present. Breathe. Meditate. Journal. Show up, to you. You’ll be amazed at what you find.

Blessings,

Tracy

The Essential Practice and the Mystical Process

Transformation is an process of alchemy  – a transmutation that happens in the deep underground of our being. We cannot control this process at will, for it is driven by the very force of Evolution…that which calls and guides all Life to grow. We can however help catalyze the force within us, strengthening our connection to it so that it may do its deep work upon our being and in our life.

The truth is that transformation rarely occurs with one swoop. Yes, there are big ah-has, but real and lasting change and growth happens in increments…noticed when we awake one day and realize we feel, and are, different. Noticed in the midst of challenge that no longer has the same emotional charge or that we respond to differently.

Our work is to create Personal Practices, or rituals of well-being that are done daily, with commitment and courage. There are many such practices, including meditation, prayer, dance, drawing and journaling. A good, transformative practice takes you through The 3 Gateways of Transformation.  Over the next few posts we will explore these 3 Gateways: Presence, Awareness and Bearing Witness.

As we step into our place of Evolutionaries we are asked to embrace and surrender to the mystery and beauty of the process, doing our part by showing up to it through holy practices of Self-emergence.

Until next time…your companion on the journey,

Tracy

Full Dimensional Living: A Travel Guide

I’ve been a certified growth junkie for the better part of two decades, and for a good part of that time the question that drove me ever forward was HOW? I read the books, got the degree and certifications, did the work, worked with others, and still the question burned inside me. I kept feeling like everything I read and studied gave me bits and pieces of the answer and pointed to that sacred destination of the essential Self and an authentic life. I would go here and then there for ideas and practices, and then I would stop it all and steep myself in my own processes and experiences, seeing where they pointed and where they led. I don’t know if you’re like me or not, but after all those years and all that work I felt very “intelligent” in the matters of mind, consciousness, spirituality and growth, but still struggled for the bottom of the belly knowing, for true wisdom that comes from within and for the experience of it all in my bones and the sinew of my being.

When my son was born I got very absorbed in the survival of new motherhood, in keeping my sanity on literally NO sleep. My sanity was found in continuing to challenge my mind and spirit, mostly at the time, through the books of Ken Wilber. I read and read and read (when I possibly could) and I continued to do some coaching. And the question continued to haunt me. Yes…I understood what I sought, where I desired to get to, but I still yearned for something clearer in the How department. Something new, different…something that took it all and put it together in some graceful dance. Not something necessarily pre-prescribed down to the every step to be taken, but something that revealed the big picture, that offered guideposts – a travel guide of sorts that would provide an overview of the landscape and give some points of interest, warnings and restful stops along the way.

The question pushed and pushed, rolled around inside me until one day it found its way to the surface, in the form of a very primary sketch – a map…a roadmap. The Full Dimensional Life Map. And then, over the course of time, the program was born. All out of that one question that wouldn’t rest – HOW?

The real answer to How is pretty simple: get to know yourself – deep and well. All the nooks and crannies. Be willing to look into the dark places and see what hides there. Be willing to look straight into the light and not shrink back.

It’s not easy to do, but it is absolutely essential. Not just for your own best interest and happiest life (though that’s good enough reason) but for all of humanity – really. It’s been said in a hundred different ways, but it begins with each of us, we are the light…so we must show up and burn as brightly and as fully as we can.

There is no need to take this trip alone, however. Actually, it is best that when we set out on the adventure of Self-emergence that we take with us a guide, that we go with companions. Our journeys may be different in view and way, but we are all headed for the same place – the holy ground of our most true and brilliant Selves. And we all have similar places we must visit before getting there.

So find a good tour book and a map and set forth. The trip of your life awaits.

Be well. Blessings for the journey,

Tracy

Full of What?

Several years ago I heard Oprah speak at a conference in Detroit. She was, of course, incredible and there was much to take from her message. But one point that has remained seeded in my consciousness is this:

She spoke about how she once feard everyone saying, “Oprah sure is full of herself.” And then she came to realize that this was exactly what she wanted to be…full of her Self. 100% filled with all that she is – not with who she thought she should be or with who someone else deemed her to be, or I would imagine…filled with any kind of small version of the brilliant, beautiful, powerful woman that she is.

And so the quest for each of us is to become filled to the brim with our Selves – with the brilliance of who we are and were born to be.

Blessings,

Tracy

Jung Wisdom

Carl Jung once said, “A whole person walks with God and wrestles with the Devil.” On our trip into self-emergence we are asked to discover the holy ground within us, to protect and carry the flame of our unique brilliance. We are also required to meet the places within us that challenge and limit us…our fears, flaws and shadows. We cannot step fully into the light unless and until we are willing to walk into the dark and face what is there. Then and only then we can embrace and integrate the whole, making choices from awareness and surrendering what we must.

Taking this journey is no easy matter and it’s not one that ever truly ends. But it is essential if we are to live our greatest stories and bloom into our greatest, most authentic nature. Real work in personal and spiritual development includes story and shadow work. It guides us both lovingly and fiercely through all the rooms of our own being, turning on the lights so that we may live at home with our soul. Over and over I take this journey myself and so I know it never really ends. There is always more to learn, to bring into awareness, to integrate and transcend. More ways to stretch and grow. Some I resist and so encounter over and over. Some I move through and then reach into higher ground and more complex learnings. Still, evolution never reaches a final destination.

So, is it worth it? Story and shadow work can be painful and difficult. Isn’t “ignorance bliss”? Sometimes, I admit, I think it just might be! But quickly I say…yes, it is worth it. For to live in awareness, awakened to my choices – whatever they may be –  and to the role I play in my own life and in the world…is to LIVE, and only with commitment to awareness does the possible expand. To live asleep, in denial or possessed by the Shadow is to never even know what life you have lived.

And to walk with God..that is worth it all. Truth is, we all always walk with God, even in the midst of our trials. But just as potential, possibility and the strength of our flame grows with our awareness, so does the depth and instensity of our communion with the Divine.

First step? Sit quietly. Breathe deep. And speak from your heart to the eternal essence of all that is. You will be heard and your call will be answered. Carve out time each day to sit in communion with yourSelf…to pray, meditate, journal, breathe. Begin with relationship…with Yourself…with God – one will always lead you to the other, deeper and deeper. I promise.

And always, always…reach out and seek the support  you need.

Be well. Blessings.

Tracy

Holy Ground

I am a Florida girl and so still wonder at the snow that covers the Colorado ground. On those mornings when it is fresh and new, and intensely beautiful I am reminded of a helicopter trip I took to the top of a glacier in Alaska years ago. Not a footprint in the snow, not a sound. The thought that resonated in my head was, ”only God lives here.” And as I flew away, over that crystal blue ice, I realized that there is such a place in each of us…a place wild, free and untouched – a holy place…from where our greatest passion arises. We tap into this and find all that we are meant to become.

The Emerging You

In the Full Dimensional Living model the Emergent Self is that part of us that is both essentially unique and universally coded. The purest individual Self directly born of the unified whole.

I hold the Creation story to look something like this: it begins with the Absolute, where all is One…from that One comes a multitude of individual droplets, all containing the wisdom of the Whole, but each a delicate, precise and individual design. Like exquisite compositions of music…the notes remain the same, but the arrangement is unique. Each of us holds the signature of Divinity, but our expression of it is singular, meant to be channeled through our gifts and talents, our passions, purposes and stories.

Our Emergent Self holds all of this in its highest form; it is the bearer of our Truth, in wait of our claiming. It holds no judgment, no expiration date. But it does call for us, its calls coming in the forms of opportunity and loss, synchronicity and discontent, wonderment and heartbreak… urging us to step, to leap, to break open and soar into the space of our greatest Becoming. To touch upon and remember the beauty and truth of Who We Are.

Discovering the Emergent Self is not something we must earn, but is our deepest birthright. It is our most essential nature. But…ah, the but…truly coming Home to this treasure often requires a journey taken…a journey through all the aspects of the self, which require us to face the heroes and demons within.

We must be willing to open the dusty boxes of our stories, where our oldest held beliefs have been packed away – some unconscious, outmoded and even dangerous, these beliefs are often unconsciously directing our lives, but not serving us well. We must be willing to dive deep, into the dark murky waters of our Shadow, where we run into the disenfranchised, the lost, the abandoned and the damaged…only to discover that we are they. We must be willing to share space with these parts of ourselves, to hear their cries and their longings, to bring light to bear upon them, and to do so with a soft touch and an open heart.

Such a journey is rarely easy to embark upon, to say “Yes!” to and is often best done in the company of a supportive other. But it is a journey well worth taking, for what we are given in return are the keys to the kingdom, those that unlock our energy, our passion, the full spectrum of our gifts and potential. The greatest treasure, however, is the way we come to love and accept ourselves and the constellation of Life…how we begin to grow in Love and our capacity to Be it, to Give it, and to Know it from within, as the light of Divinity shining through our entirety. And when we are able to bask in that glow, to open our arms and accept its warmth and fullness, to not turn our backs on it in fear of undeservedness or of being burned by goodness, we recognize ourselves as both Lover and Beloved, Source and Beneficiary.

And in the space of such awareness we feel the hand of our Emergent Self upon us and we know, if even for one shimmering moment, that we are Home.
