We long for both freedom and fullness…to touch the center of emptiness and to connect deeply with Life, to know Love, to embrace all that is. It is the great dance of Wholeness…the marriage of soul and skin. How do we do both? How do we find the freedom we yearn for…the freedom that makes our Soul dance, and also live in deep and intimate connection with others and the Earth…the connection that feeds our Soul? We look to nature as example…to the cycles innate to to Life that require both an emptying and a flourishing, a sinking in and a reaching out.
Winter teaches us the art of emptiness…letting go and focusing our energies inward, surrendering to the process of growth at work in the underground of our being, trusting that what needs to be done is being done without our pushing and striving. Trees in winter lose their leaves, stand raw and still while being nourished through their deep roots. From them we learn that time for stillness, for self-nurturance, for deep deep surrender is necessary for future growth. In our lives this looks like time taken for meditation, for prayer, dance, journaling, creative endeavors…for deepening our connection with Source and Self.
To connect to Winter’s wisdom carve out time in your day for You, to focus on your relationship with yourself, to let go of all external labels and obligations…and come into the quietude of your Soul. If only 5 minutes, this time is invaluable to becoming fully who you are and to touching the emptiness your essence longs for. For one week, commit to a time and a space. What you do is up to you…sit and breathe, journal, draw, lay and be. It matters not. What matters is your intention to show up. It is an act of Love.
In the next post we’ll look at Spring and what it teaches us…but if you wish for more now, check out our Store and consider The Four Seasons of Creative Living.
Until next time,
